Roll the Dice!

I have been working steadily to create my new body of work. I have been posting unfinished and finished paintings on Instagram. It is gratifying to be gaining followers from all over the world.

I will be sending the photos of my paintings for viewing to a few juried art shows in the United States.

Often the shows have themes, but they might not suit my paintings. The majority of shows seem to be on the west coast of the U.S. and that is super far to ship the work if it is accepted to the exhibition. For me and for some of my fellow artists, it is not a good idea to create something for an exhibit, because it lacks integrity. From a long list I may find only a few shows that could be suitable. The curators may have something particular in mind and so the outcome is unknown.

If the jury thinks that the paintings are a “good fit”, they would probably be included in the show. If they are unsuitable a very kind rejection letter will be sent. I entered a contest for an award and title of the best artist in Florida, but I lost to an imaginative person who had made hooked rugs of topographical maps. Some curators favor alternative media, and some think painting is not relevant, but I persevere.
