In My Studio

Every day I look forward to time in my serene studio. No matter what chaos is close by my studio is my special place.

Recently there was major construction in my home because of the installation of high impact hurricane proof windows. What a mess. Things were piled here and there. Then these things were moved elsewhere. Now the job is complete, but there are still those piles! However, my studio is always welcoming and quiet. Here there might be a few piles of things, and here, the foster puppy may have made a mistake; but the studio is serene, bright, and sweet smelling to me.

I am so grateful to be in such a space and to create from that place. While in the journey of making a painting it seems there is an ever changing  balance of movement and pausing, of creative expression that is by turns spontaneous and controlled, and also of decision making that is sometimes free and sometimes objective.Here I am in this special place and I am dueling and dancing … Peeking through my studio window, you would just see a woman with a brush.
